History
A bit of history...
Hrotovice has been a favored vacation spot since the early 1900's, when it began receiving numerous guests from across and even outside the nation, drawn here by the hospitality of the locals and the beautiful vistas throughout the area. In the 1920's, Rudolf Jona responded to this trend by building the Jona hotel on the main square, and it gained a reputation for bringing satisfaction to Hrotovice's visitors of the era.
In 1954, the hotel was nationalized, and this launched rather a different era, one where services dwindled and the building deteriorated.
In the restitution process after 1989, it was returned to the descendants of Rudolf Jona, who then sold it to Ing. Bronislav Vala in 1999. An exceptionally extensive reconstruction and the construction of new accomodations, a congress center, a sports hall, bowling lanes, and other sports facilities have made this hotel one with which no other hotel in southwest Moravia can compete.
In celebration of its new sports focus, it now boasts the name SPORT-V-HOTEL.
